Frequently Asked Questions

I just got engaged! When should I start shopping for a wedding dress?

Yay!! Congratulations! We recommend that you start shopping for your wedding gown as soon as you’ve got that ring on your finger. Our designer gowns can take up to 14 weeks to be made and arrive in store. We recommend placing your order 5-6 months out from your wedding date. However we also stock an everchanging selection of gowns in our ‘Off the Rack’ and ‘Sample Sale’ collections that can be bought off the rack – very helpful for those brides with a shorter time-frame!

I’ve noticed many bridal stores charge a try-on fee. Do you at Ballgowns, Bridal and Beyond charge a fee to try on your gowns?

Oh gosh no! There is absolutely no charge to try on gowns with us. We are well aware of how expensive weddings are! But we do ask that you make an appointment. Having said that, we are now offering V.I.P appointments for which there is a small charge.

Do you take walk-ins?

We love being able to warmly welcome everybody into our boutique! However, as we are not your regular retail store booking an appointment with us is essential. Appointments can be made Monday & Friday between 10am – 5pm; Tuesday & Thursday between 10am – 8pm; Wednesday 10am – 2pm and Saturdays between 10am – 4pm. If for some reason you’re struggling to find a time that suits you to come in, just give us a call and we’ll do what we can to help arrange a time that works.

I have booked an appointment, what will happen when I arrive? How long is the consultation?

Oh yay! We cannot wait to meet you. When you arrive in-store you will be greeted by one of our lovely team members. Our consultations are approximately an hour long. Don’t worry, you will be well taken care of!

Do you have many sizes available to try-on?

Yes, we most certainly do! We have a wonderful selection of wedding gowns, ballgowns, bridesmaids and Mothers of the Bride/Groom dresses for you to try on. We stock dresses from size 6 to size 30, however special orders can be place for sizes 00 – 46 (depending on the designer).

I have to keep to a budget. What is your price range at Ballgowns, Bridal and Beyond?

We understand! We try to keep things as affordable as possible in our store. The prices of our designer wedding gowns range from $685 to around $3000. All our other gowns range in price from $155 – $600. Also don’t forget to check out our sale rack and our ‘Sell on Behalf’ items. If you have a budget in mind, please feel free to let us know at the beginning of your appointment.

I am so excited to visit Ballgowns, Bridal & Beyond! Where are you located and is there parking nearby?

We are super excited to meet you too! We are located inside the Historic Falls Hotel at 22 Alderman Drive, Henderson, Auckland

Parking is available right next door to our lovely store. Park along the tree line for 120 minute free parking. The rest of carpark has a $4 daily flat rate. If you have any concerns in regards to parking please give us a call (09 837 5010).

I have found my dream dress, but I need it altered! Can you recommend someone?

You will often hear us say, that the difference between a beautiful dress and an ‘OMG! Drop-dead Gorgeous’ dress is how well it fits. Most gowns do need alterations to ensure the fit and length is perfectly tailored to you! Please remember alteration costs are not included in the price you pay for your dress.

You are welcome to go to whomever you wish for your alterations, however if you’re stuck for options we are most happy to recommend Adelle, from SewFit. More information on the alterations process can be found on our Alterations page

My big day has come and gone – what should I do with my dress now?

The first thing is to get your gown cleaned by a professional gown cleaner.

We recommend…

Once it is clean it can be boxed for storage. Professional cleaners will usually offer this service. Alternatively if you wish to sell your gown check out our ‘Selling On Behalf’ programme.

Do you hire out dresses?

No, sorry, we only do sales.

Do you buy pre-owned or once-worn gowns?

No, sorry.

However, we do offer a ‘Sell-on-Behalf’ programme. For more information on how this all works please check out our ‘Sell-on-Behalf’ page click here. For any further questions please feel free to email us at info@ballgownsbridal.nz with the subject line ‘Sell-on-Behalf’.

I purchased a gown off the rack and I have changed my mind about the gown. What is your refund policy?

We recommend that our customers take their time to choose their gowns carefully as we do not refund should you change your mind, have a change of circumstances or if your event is cancelled.

If there is a manufacturing flaw, we will meet our obligations under the Consumers Guarantees Act 1993.
