Frequently Asked Questions

I just got engaged! When should I start shopping for a wedding dress?

Yay!! Congratulations! We recommend that you start shopping for your wedding gown as soon as you’ve got that ring on your finger. Our gowns can take up to 16 weeks to be made and arrive in store. We recommend placing your order 5-6 months out from your wedding date. However we also stock an everchanging selection of sample gowns that can be bought off the rack which can accommodate those brides with a short time-frame!

I’ve noticed many bridal stores charge a try-on fee. Do you at Ballgowns, Bridal and Beyond charge a fee to try on your gowns?

Oh gosh no! There is absolutely no charge to try on gowns with us. We are well aware of how expensive weddings are! But we do ask that you make an appointment.

Do you take walk-ins?

We welcome everybody into our store! However, we do recommend that you book an appointment with us. If for some reason you can’t book an appointment just give us a call before you come to see how we are placed for time that day.

I have booked an appointment, what will happen when I arrive? How long is the consultation?

Oh yay! We cannot wait to meet you. When you arrive in-store you will be greeted by one of our lovely team members. Our consultations are approximately an hour long. Don’t worry, you will be well taken care of!

Do you have many sizes available to try-on?

I have found my dream dress, but I need it altered! Can you recommend someone?

You will often hear us say, that the difference between a beautiful dress and an ‘OMG! Drop-dead Gorgeous’ dress is how well it fits. Most gowns do need alterations to ensure the fit and length is perfectly tailored to you! Please remember alteration costs are not included in the price you pay for your dress.

We are always happy to assist you in the alterations process as we partner with Adelle, from SewFit. More information on the alterations process can be found on our Alterations page

My big day has come and gone – what should I do with my dress now?

The first thing is to get your gown cleaned by a professional gown cleaner.

We recommend…

Once it is clean it can be boxed for storage. Professional cleaners will usually offer this service – alternatively we do sell archival quality gown storage boxes and we will even pack your gown into one these boxes for you at no extra charge.

Do you hire out dresses?

No, sorry, we only do sales.

Do you buy pre-owned or once-worn gowns?

No, sorry.

However we do offer a ‘Sell-on-Behalf’ programme exclusively for gowns purchased from our store. For more information on this programme and its terms and conditions please click here.

I purchased a gown off the rack and I have changed my mind about the gown. What is your refund policy?

We recommend that our customers take their time to choose their gowns carefully as we do not refund should you change your mind, have a change of circumstances or if your event is cancelled.

If there is a manufacturing flaw, we will meet our obligations under the Consumers Guarantees Act 1993.
